Charter Constancy

Preserving a project's identity while its purpose evolves.

The Usual extension

A charter amendment records changes to scope, success conditions and sponsorship. The Constancy Office determines whether the amended project remains the same project for reporting purposes. A sufficiently large change may require a new identifier, unless continuity of the old identifier is itself a strategic objective.

Inside the process

A platform project becomes a process review after funding changes. The team updates the purpose and baseline. The old milestone cannot remain complete simply because it still fits in the same row of the portfolio workbook.
