How the practice works
Day One planning concentrates on the contacts, access and processes required to keep serving colleagues and customers. Later convergence belongs in a sequenced plan. Temporary differences are made explicit so that a common identity does not suggest a level of integration the operation has not reached.

A working example
Two businesses retain different systems after close. Teams publish the correct request routes and designate cross-company contacts for urgent work. Customers receive usable instructions rather than an explanation of how exciting the future architecture will be.
