The Content Lifecycle

Publishing includes the eventual removal of the page.

How the practice works

Content moves through drafting, approval, use, review and retirement. Ownership remains active after publication. Pages that no longer serve a task are updated, redirected or archived with enough context to avoid breaking a reader's route.

The working record
  1. 01Draft
  2. 02Approve
  3. 03Use
  4. 04Review
  5. 05Retire

A working example

An integration FAQ remains prominent long after the temporary process ends. The owner replaces it with current guidance and redirects the common entry points. Colleagues no longer need to know the company's project history to submit an ordinary request.
