Volunteer activities are planned around suitable tasks, preparation and the host's capacity. Participation should add value without requiring the receiving organization to create a second event-management function. The plan includes the unglamorous questions about materials, transport and cleanup.

What it looks like
A team offers a day of support. The host identifies a manageable task and the preparation it requires. The group completes it and leaves the space ready for normal use, which proves more helpful than an ambitious list of partially started improvements.
