A week with purpose
Each business appoints a Connection Lead to arrange shared activities, sponsor messages and opportunities to meet colleagues outside the usual reporting line. A Connection Week may include breakfast, service activity, a facilitated conversation and a celebration of what makes the business distinct. The template for that celebration is centrally supplied.
Participation
Activities described as optional are invitations rather than scheduled work assignments. Attendance will be recorded. Managers receive participation summaries so they can understand how colleagues experience the program. A colleague who declines is not required to explain, although the follow-up questionnaire includes a mandatory field for the reason.
The facilitated introduction
Participants share a personal fact suitable for colleagues they have just met. The fact should be memorable, positive and unlikely to prompt a referral to another function. Facilitators avoid repeating a fact from the previous event unless the colleague can show that it remains relevant to their current development journey.
The continuing series
The 2019 week established the attendance approach. The 2022 return program introduced Bring Your Whole Self, with a session on appropriate boundaries. The 2024 program joined in-person connection to digital presence reporting. Each edition produced a shirt, a survey and recommendations for improving the next edition. Shirts remain available through the Company Store.
