Meeting Roles Without Theater

Chair, contributor, decision-maker and person who needed the notes.

The lesson

A meeting's roles follow its purpose. Some participants supply evidence, others make decisions, and others may only need the resulting record. Learners assess attendance by contribution and authority rather than treating inclusion as the only available form of respect.

Open the scenario and suggested response

A decision session has fourteen attendees but lacks the budget owner. Invite the person with authority, gather necessary evidence and give the remaining interested colleagues a usable record. The meeting becomes smaller and more capable at the same time.

Reading this public lesson does not submit a completion record.
