Listening and Responding

A survey is the start of a conversation with a deadline.

The initiative

Listening activity identifies the question being asked, how responses will be considered and when colleagues will hear what follows. The program distinguishes collecting views from acting on them. Both can be documented, but they should not share a completion tick by default.

The working record
  1. 01Question
  2. 02What was heard
  3. 03Response
  4. 04Follow-through

What it looks like

A team raises a recurring process problem. Management explains the action it can take, the part it cannot change and the reason. Even an unwelcome answer is more informative than a second request to complete the same survey.

The same listening philosophy appears on the Employee Listening Survey Sticker: anonymous responses, with an employee ID so the invitation can be properly managed.
