Nomination
Nominate colleagues whose responsibilities are expanding or whose recent work suggests readiness for broader exposure. Include a specific example of contribution. “Good attitude” may supplement an example but should not replace one.
Self-nominated colleagues follow the same review process. Managers should address the application before interpreting the act of applying.
The profile conversation
Review the first three responses in their original order. Ask the participant what attracted their attention before sharing the profile language. A response that differs from the manager’s expectation should be discussed rather than corrected.
Do not circulate a list of desirable words before the assessment. The leadership examples are intended for reviewers and should not be included in the participant calendar invitation.
Panel review
Submit the development objective, supporting work example and proposed assignment. Assessment results appear alongside these materials. Where a submission contains only the assessment, the panel may return it for additional context or proceed within the available timetable.
The panel uses three readiness designations: Ready for Exposure, Ready with Sponsorship and Continue in Current Scope. The final designation should remain consistent across the participant letter and the succession spreadsheet.
Workload and sponsorship
Confirm who will cover existing duties during the residential session. Program admission is not approval for temporary staffing. Where coverage cannot be arranged, the participant may attend while remaining available to the business.
Sponsors are asked to schedule two conversations. A meeting accepted and subsequently moved beyond the program end date may be recorded as engagement pending.
Review requests
Participants may request a discussion of their profile. The review should address the interpretation and any relevant circumstances. It should not become a search for a more advantageous first word.
