The course at Wetherley Hall
Eighteen holes, several strategic options and one particularly influential pond.
A course that rewards restraint
Wetherley Hall’s parkland course measures 6,240 yards from the tournament tees and plays to par 72. Broad opening fairways narrow around mature trees, while the back nine asks players to choose between a comfortable position and an interesting conversation with their teammates. The tournament uses the same tees for every group.
The decisions that matter
The par-three sixth carries water to a shallow green. The eleventh bends left behind a stand of oak trees; the visible route is usually sufficient. At the eighteenth, the clubhouse terrace creates an audience for a shot that would have been difficult privately. Spectators are encouraged to reserve their assessment until the ball has stopped.
Preparing for a round
Practice balls and a short-game area are included in the player allocation. Course staff determine weather delays and course access. Tournament Administration determines how the delay is described in the closing remarks. Neither function can materially improve a second shot from the trees.
