Beyond the scorecard
The Classic’s community program starts with equipment that can actually be used.
Opening access
The Wetherley Community Sports Trust works with the tournament to introduce beginners to golf through supervised sessions and shared equipment. The program focuses on a small, usable inventory rather than collecting items that have already defeated their original owners.
A practical contribution
Clubs are checked for condition and suitability before acceptance. Junior equipment is kept separately, and coaching sessions are organized around participant experience. The tournament’s volunteer group handles sorting and transport; qualified instructors lead the sporting activity. Branded packaging is optional. Functional grips are not.
Reviewing the program
The Trust records equipment received, sessions delivered and whether participants return. Those measures are reviewed independently of tournament hospitality. A successful reception can be reported as a successful reception without also being counted as a youth development outcome.
