Three goals at home: Brackenmere 3–1 Ashcombe Vale
A response built around an early lead and a strong finish.
An early foothold
Marcus Hales scored after eleven minutes to give Brackenmere the advantage. The early goal encouraged the home side to move the ball with more purpose, although Ashcombe remained competitive and refused to treat the afternoon as a sponsor demonstration.
Room on the right
Owen Bell added the second after 54 minutes. With the match still demanding attention, Theo Mercer’s 83rd-minute goal gave the final score a more comfortable appearance. The full back’s contribution was welcomed by teammates who had spent much of the afternoon asking him to recover his position.
The wider picture
The 3–1 result followed the defeat at Merebridge United and restored momentum at Morrowbank. It was the second of three opening home wins. The match record credits Hales, Bell and Mercer; subsequent descriptions of a collective performance should be read alongside those individual contributions.
