The annotated slide
A facilitator wrote Shared Direction on a clear transparency and asked delegates to add what it required. By the third table, the words were surrounded by arrows, conditions and the name of an acquired business nobody could find on the latest chart. The overhead projector displayed only the center of the sheet. Delegates nearest the machine were asked to describe the corners.
The duplication request
The secretariat proposed circulating a photocopy. One director asked whether the handwriting constituted an agreed statement. Another requested typed minutes. The original transparency was kept while a typed summary was reviewed, and the typed summary cited the transparency as its source.
The lasting instruction
Future sessions used separate sheets for agreed actions and matters needing discussion. The instruction was later folded into meeting-readiness guidance. The original binder retained both sheets because removing either could imply that the other represented the complete discussion.
