LISTENING CONFIDENCE COMMITTEE

The Conferential Employee Survey

Anonymous, confidential or conferential?

The case for intervention

Confidential was misprinted as Conferential in an executive deck. Rather than reopen the approved deck, the team defined a new category: feedback that may be conferred about by authorized parties.

The work undertaken

The committee spent 11 months developing assurances about identity handling. Employee ID remained mandatory so the system could identify colleagues who had not participated. The questionnaire asked whether respondents felt comfortable answering candidly.

The approved outcome

Participation reached the target after managers received a list of non-respondents. The committee reported increased confidence in the completeness of the dataset. The employee ID field remained the first question.

The same listening philosophy appears on the Employee Listening Survey Sticker: anonymous responses, with an employee ID so the invitation can be properly managed.
